EFC
provided the design and construction management services for the Saipan
International Airport Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF)
facility. The design included state of the art equipment such as
fire alarm, emergency detection system, electric dead bolt system for
secured areas, public address, intercom system, emergency generator
system, and two 100,000-gallon water storage tanks.
The design took into consideration ARFF vehicle access to the taxiway
with respect to turning radius and ease of accessibility into and out
of the vehicle bay area. The building construction system was
required to meet the strict standards of the FAA as well as all
building codes and wind and seismic load requirements. The
building is constructed with a steel frame with E.I.F.S. cladding.
